She presents programs nationally and internationally on her grandfather from the Pordenone Silent Film Festival in Italy to the Library of Congress in the U.S. Currently\, Dr. Fields is Patron of Slapstick Festival in Bristol\, England\, and at Slapstick Festivals (2022 on January 28\, and in 2021) shares personal insights into her grandfather’s films. Harriet has created and produced three Off Broadway plays in tribute to her grandfather’s stage and film careers – Celebration of Comic Genius W.C. Fields at the National Arts Club\, Gramercy Park\, New York City (2018) with panelists Dick Cavett\, Prof. Rob King of Columbia University Film Department\, and herself; Centennial Celebration of W.C. Fields at the New Amsterdam (2015) on the 100th Anniversary of W.C. Fields starring on Broadway in the Ziegfeld Follies at the New Amsterdam Theatre; The Real Transcript of W.C. Fields Murder Trial (of a Canary)\, 1928 (2015) about a little known incident in Broadway history. Harriet is currently working on the second iteration to bring to Off Broadway\, hopefully later this year. \nDr. Fields is a global health advocate in rural villages in Rwanda empowering women as leaders in health in their communities. While in Rwanda\, Harriet also screens her grandfather’s films at the Kwetu Film Institute in Kigali with profound international insights into how W.C. Fields speaks to the universal human condition. Kwetu is part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences International Outreach Program and is witness to the Timelessness of W.C. Fields Art and Humor. \nIn November 2019\, Harriet and Rob presented the W.C. Fields Tribute at the Annual Meeting of SPERDVAC. Harriet and Rob are delighted to present this program now to REPS – W.C. FIELDS RADIO AND FILM CAREERS IN THE GOLDEN AGE. \nRob Farr has been a member of the Metro Washington Old-Time Radio Club (MWOTRC) for over 30 years. He teaches film history at George Mason University in Fairfax\, VA\, and recently completed 33 years running Arlington\, VA’s government TV station. In 2003\, he founded the Slapsticon film festival\, a four-day celebration of classic film comedy. Since its founding\, Rob has volunteered for “Mostly Lost”\, an annual film identification conference sponsored by the Library of Congress in Culpeper\, VA. Rob is currently writing a joint biography of the silent film comedian Sidney Drew and his two wives. \nWe are honored to have Dr. Fields with guest Rob Farr providing this presentation that will include: \n\nRadio and Film Clips portraying the complimentary and seamless whole of W.C. Fields in all media of the time\, rising to the “Icon of American Culture and Humor” (Librarian of Congress\, Dr. James Billington\, 2000).\nRare family photos and insights.  \nRob Farr presenting his expertise regarding the Radio Clips \n\nSee Timelessness of W.C.
