REPS RADIO ARTISTS

REPS produces many performances each year in the style and tradition of vintage radio theater for the enjoyment of  audiences at REPS  programs along with productions designed for other venues.  These productions feature talented individuals who step before the microphone and bring radio drama alive. Have you ever wanted to play a part in your favorite radio show?  Do you have aspirations to play The Shadow, or recreate the War of The Worlds, Suspense or The Whistler? Or perhaps your interest is more along the lines of Our Miss Brooks, The Great Gildersleeve or another all time great comedy show.

Programs, performed at community venues, have been well received and introduce old time radio and REPS to the general public.  REPS produces a weekly program of old time radio shows on the Radio Theater Channel  called REPS Presents.  On occasion the old time radio offerings will be preempted to allow for the airing of a REPS production. This is always a thrill for everyone involved.
If you have interest in radio acting and sound effects you will have a great time with the REPS Radio Artists.   All are welcome. The Artists are comprised of individuals with varying levels of experience and are organized into three separate production groups ( The Blue, The Red and the Gold ). This approach provides more opportunities for participation and allows for REPS to better serve different types of requests and venues.    The three groups are described.

BLUE NETWORK

The BLUE NETWORK is open to the general public.  Anyone interested in participating in live performances in the style and tradition of vintage radio theater is encouraged to participate.  Blue Network Artists are from all walks of life with varying degrees of experience. Some of the newest members have no experience at all and through coaching and practice learn to perfect the art of radio performing (including the art of live sound effects and technical support).  There are quite a few performance opportunities for REPS and occasionally for small community events or retirement communities as well.  Of the Three Radio Artists groups, The Blue Network is the only one that meets on a regular basis.  In general,  the group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:30 PM. However, dates and times are subject to change so always be certain to check the calendar below to receive the most up to date information.

Not every meeting will be a rehearsal or going over a script for an upcoming performance. Some meetings will be hands on *workshops to learn every aspect of putting on a live cast audio production. Sometimes it will be learning dialects, character development, the art of announcing, practicing mic technique, setting up and running live audio, writing scripts and performing as a sound effects artist.  This training will prepare the Blue team to be self-sufficient which will allow the group the ability to accept a larger number of performance requests.

*The hands on workshops are free to REPS members and a suggested donation is requested from the general public.

RED NETWORK

THE RED NETWORK consists of seasoned stage performers . This group doesn’t have regular meetings but it comes together as needed for rehearsals and performances where the event or venue requires more experience.   The Red network will generally perform a few times a year at highly promoted REPS events (Showcase preview, Summer Picnic, Halloween show, Christmas performance) and at larger events in the community.

More experienced Red network performers are also tasked with leading the Blue Network meetings and  workshops and directing the various performances.   There will also be opportunities for individuals in the Blue Network to participate  with the Red Network team.  We like to encourage plenty of crossover when the situation permits.

GOLD NETWORK

THE GOLD NETWORK  is comprised of performers from the Golden Age of Radio and also from TV and  Stage who generally have an IMDb page, or  are a longtime member of the SAG-AFTRA unions.
.

The Gold Network performers are the featured performers in main-stage performances at Showcase and occasionally as guest performers at  special events.
